Hold as Published
Where should I look first when given “hold as published” instructions?
The answer is logical, but it wasn’t obvious to me as a young pilot. I had to receive the instruction a few times before I started noticing a pattern.
If you are in the terminal environment, the published hold is usually depicted on the approach plate. If you are en route, it is usually depicted on the en route low-altitude chart.
Recognizing this tendency gives you a good place to look first and has helped me identify and program published holds more efficiently.
