I’ve learned through experience (trial and error!) that a life well lived is incremental. Disciplined, sustained effort aggregates and compounds, and over time, invariably produces a certain level of expertise, which, when used to serve others, has a cumulative impact.
A fulfilling life is all about “closing the gap” between who you are and who you can be. “Spiral up” is part of my commitment to close the gap (lord knows I need work!). Going Pro, Operating from a Position of Integrity and Forging Airmanship are examples of me working to spiral up in an effort to better serve you.
Thank you for reading.
Going Pro
How does an unheralded athlete from a town in New Hampshire earn his way on to an NFL roster and a trip to the Super Bowl?
It was a long, windy path that involved a year in Jackson, Mississippi, a month at Disney World, and a physical altercation with a famous morning talk show host.
The lessons learned from this football journey proved useful throughout my second career, a 20+ year effort to be an “all-pro” rescue helicopter pilot. My hope is that these stories help you to “close the gap” in whatever challenging endeavor you are committed to “tackling.”
Operating from a Position of Integrity
Operating from a position of integrity (OPI) is living in alignment with your values, while harnessing your gifts and passion to fill a need in service to others. The OPI section of this website shares insight gained during my idiosyncratic effort to contribute to our aviation community and rescue operations.
Forging Airmanship
This is a section dedicated to my brothers and sisters in our helicopter rescue service. It captures some of the study tools and airmanship insights that I leaned on regularly as I worked to spiral up in our craft.
